Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, for more than one reason. Putting food in your system as you wake, breaks your fast and sets you up for eating well for the rest of the day.

More importantly, eating breakfast 30 minutes to an 1 hour after rising prevents your body from going into starvation mode. As a result, it prevents your body from holding onto fat. Secondly, if you eat a balanced breakfast you will less likely to snack on junk before lunch and it will help you to eat a balanced meals for the rest of the day.

Throughout high school and university, I ate eggos waffles and drank maple syrup like water. Honestly, I’m not a fan of breakfast food, unless it includes lots of bacon! Since ‘lots of bacon’ is not a everyday option for me, oatmeal and steel cut oats have become my breakfast staples. For protein, I add chocolate whey protein. For taste, I add frozen fruits and cinnamon instead of sugar. For me, this combo is a perfect balance between carbs and protein. What do you eat for breakfast?
